FAQ
Can I talk to someone about the course?
Sure, staff is available at 904-866-5055 for all questions, Monday-Friday, 10am-4pm.

What if I have never ridden a motorcycle before?
This is a “Beginner/Basic” course designed for someone who has never sat on a motorcycle before. Although no experience is necessary, a good sense of balance is required (you must be able to ride a bicycle).

What are the schedule times?
The 2-day BRC schedule times are 7:00am - 1:00pm concurrently.
Please note that scheduled times may be subject to change due to circumstances such as weather delays and other factors. Please plan accordingly and do not take the start/end times as absolute. Students should arrive 15 minutes early in order to expedite admin/paperwork so we can get out on the range to RIDE.

Do I need to show eCourse completion when I show up?
YES!!! You are required to complete the eCourse and provide us with your “Completion Certificate” the moment you walk in the door. Please note that the eCourse will take you every bit of 5 hours.  Do NOT put off stating the eCourse till the night before class.

Do I need to attend the entirety of the class?
You must complete the (1) eCourse, (2) attend all session in its entirety Day1 and Day2, (3) pass an on-motorcycle skills test in order to pass course, and (4) pass a knowledge test.

What is your cancellation/rescheduling policy?
JMST has a no refund policy. We provide a service, not a product. In order to avoid a $50 processing fee, contact JMST at 904-866-5055 or email admin@jmst.com 7 days prior to the scheduled class. For reschedules/cancellations within 48 hours of the start of class, there will be a $100 processing fee. Keep in mind, you have to complete your BRC course within 30 days of completing the eCourse or you will have to retake the eCourse, this time at your own expense ($39.99).

What kind of motorcycles will I be using?
We have a variety of 125cc – 250cc motorcycles we use. We also have a scooter available upon request.

Can I use my own bike?

No. We provide the training motorcycles.

What will I need to bring to the course?
Helmet - You must wear a DOT compliant helmet when riding. NO NOVELTY helmets will be allowed.
Gloves -  full fingered gloves.
Long Pants - You need to wear full length pants made of sturdy material.  No exposed skin is allowed. Spandex, Lycra, yoga, sweat and any other pants made of lightweight stretchy material is not accepted.
Over the ankle footwear - Sturdy over the ankle footwear is required. Canvas high tops do not qualify. Steel toe or Cowboy boots NOT recommended as these may impair learning shifting, especially for new riders.
Eye protection – Helmet with face shield or safety glasses recommended. Prescription glasses and regular sunglasses are permitted.
Long Sleeves -  Shirt of jacket with sleeves all the way to the wrists.
Rain Gear – This is Florida, please bring rain gear if you have any. We will ride in the rain if the weather is not severe.
Snacks and drinks will be provided but you are welcome to bring your own.

Will the class be canceled if it rains?
No. We will ride in the rain, just as you would in real-life. Bring rain gear.

Do I need my own helmet?
Due to Covid protocol YES - please bring a DOT approved helmet. 'Novelty' helmets are not permitted.

How old do I have to be?
You must be at least 16 years old and hold at least a Learner’s License for one year with no traffic convictions. If under 18, your parent or legal guardian will be required to sign a waiver in person at the start of class. Your parent or guardian’s notarized signature on the JMST waiver will also acceptable if they cannot show up in person.

How do I get my endorsement on my license?
No additional testing is required at the DMV upon successful completion of the course. If you successfully complete the course, your results will be in the DMV database the following day. Go to your nearest DMV to get your endorsement put on your driver’s license.

What if I'm late to class?
Learning to ride a motorcycle requires skill progression. This progression begins with small tasks and builds to larger, more complex tasks. It is critical that students arrive on time. Late arrivals WILL NOT BE PERMITTED to ride.

What happens if I do not pass the class?
No big deal. There are several options available to you. If you did pretty good in class and just missed the mark in the eval, you can come back and simply “retest” (please note you CANNOT retest on the same day). Or if you struggled a little, you can come back through class to practice some more at no additional cost to you as long as we have an open seat available. We will work with you as best we can to help you reach your goal. But do realize that sometimes, the conclusion should be, that maybe riding is not for you.

Additional Notes:
• Safety and learning are a responsibility shared by all.
• Our goal is to create a safe, positive learning environment.
• Everyone is expected to conduct themselves in a professional manner, else you will be asked to leave.
